The dreaded fear of every JEE aspirant is one word “Mathematics”. No this article is not to talk about the fear, but to address the main question of how to go about it with minimum contingencies.

Let us understand, whether it is difficult or just a little tricky when it comes to solving questions in the JEE Mains or Advanced paper.

Let us chalk our some clear cut and tested methods, that will help you take an edge in your JEE Mains mathematics preparation.

Always remember that TREND IS YOUR FRIEND, before you jump to your final preparation, make sure to do a clear cut evaluation of sample papers and last 3 years mathematics section of IIT JEE Mains paper as this will give you an idea of which are the topics that have been there for a long time and you can expect a similar question from those topics in your JEE Mains attempt as well, this will help in reducing the burden and guaranteeing sure shot marks if you practice the topics well

Regular doubt solving sessions are a must, Mathematics is more of a practical subject, you cannot expect to learn everything a lot of times. Different methods are needed, you need to learn, unlearn, and relearn as and when time changes, thus having a mentor who regularly updates you and solves your doubts there and then is crucial, this approach is better, than getting your doubts piled up because that makes a bottleneck and it becomes difficult to understand all at once and that is when students lose their motivation

Do not try to memorize, try to conceptualize, understand the logic and the fundamentals behind everything. When things appear tough, condition your mind in such a manner that you are able to back track to your foundational concepts. This will help you pave your way yourself, which is important in an exam that holds a stature like JEE Mains

Make a formula repository, for reference. Have a sheet that contains all the important formulas related to a topic as this will be of grave importance at the time of the final revision. It is very difficult to memorize all at once, but having a formula sheet to refer to time and again will help in making a crisp image in the head and can be of great help in case you lose track in a question while practicing

Solving test papers, mock exams on a regular basis help in training the mind to visualize a problem in different ways and try to get the solution in more than one way. Regular practice makes you confident of topics and having mock papers triggers your brain to switch through topics in an easy way and keeps it in the analytical stage, which is extremely important when it comes to making progress in the JEE Mains exam. As higher the number of questions practiced, more will be the familiarity in the main paper and more will be the chance of selection for IIT.Also, Check out How to prepare for JEE in the last 45 days?

From a theoretical standpoint, three of the pillars of JEE Mains and Advanced, namely Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, have a comparable weightage, but in reality, how to attempt the papers to reap the greatest rewards is a different story.

We at Trigyaa, consider Modern Physics to be the key family member of Physics family in both the papers, one should start with Physics, because it has both numerical and theoretical questions. It challenges the mind but at the same time relaxes it with theoretical questions after every numerical.

On the other hand, mathematics needs the most active mind, so mathematics should not be attempted in one go. For the simple fact that if you find yourself stuck on a question, it breaks the flow and the morale for the entire JEE Mains paper. Thus, switching back and forth between Chemistry and Mathematics will not only give your mind a break, but it will also keep you in the solving mode, so even if you don’t get 1 mathematics question, you will get 5 chemistry questions, which isn’t a bad bargain.

While preparing, Mathematics should be practiced every day. Chemistry comes in 3 parts, focus should be first to deal with physical chemistry, then move towards organic chemistry as these 2 are conceptual while inorganic is majorly theoretical. Results and stats show that in chemistry, physical and organic take the major chunk, so having your head wrapped around them will make sure that 80% of the war is in your favour.

Inorganic should be handled when the mind is not able to take more and it can just memorise not conceptualize, this will make sure that slowly inorganic simmers in.

In physics, electrostats is a very important topic from class 12th perspective, while rotational motion, solids and fluid mechanics will give the most questions, particularly in JEE Advanced from class 11th perspective. Magnetism, Force, Work, Power, and Energy will all appear as wildcard entries in the JEE Mains paper, so make sure you know these concepts so that a large portion of the paper appears achievable, or in other words, like a cakewalk to you rather than a source of anxiety. so, this is how to attempt the papers to reap the greatest rewards!

Mathematics will be tricky, so make sure you keep practicing and solving mock papers. Complex numbers, factorials, and AOD will test your conceptual skills. The intellectual stimulation will come in the form of vectors, permutation and combination, probability, and other topics. Integration and differentiation might oscillate but this is what will test if you have the potential to be a great and competent engineer in IIT, so make sure you do not take these topics lightly.

Overall, coverage of all chapters is important, but make sure you study the previous year’s patterns, as it will give an idea as to which are the HOTS (high order thinking skills) questions and are the ones that should not be taken lightly come what may.

The post Division of PCM first appeared on Trigya.

The most feared and unpredictable subject, for all JEE aspirants, is MATHEMATICS. The main question comes to mind is that which one to focus on, class 11th or class 12th mathematics. To be honest, this question cannot be answered directly but certain patterns and matrices can be used to help you out.

Normally, a student has a better hold of Class 12th mathematics because board exams are an overall gruelling phase where the student is required to practice a variety of problems many times, give sample papers, pre boards, and a thousand other ways carried out to make sure that the student can clear the 12th board exams. During that phase, the student focuses on a higher level of class 12th mathematics problems for JEE as well, so directly or indirectly the level of preparation for class 12th mathematics exceeds that of class 11th mathematics.

Class 11th is the light breeze between Class 10th and 12th as a result, class 11th preparation from JEE pre-view is hard, but takes a back seat when the student enters class 12th. However, the harsh reality is that IIT portals do not differentiate between class 11 and 12 mathematics and assign both classes equal and proportional weightage.

If inverse trigonometry is the show-stopper in JEE mains, trigonometric functions steal the show in JEE advanced. You continue working with derivatives and are in a solution frenzy when you come across permutations and combinations. Calculus is the most notorious, since you may be extremely proficient with the content in class 12th, but class 11th will come back to haunt you. Probability, vectors, 3D, and so much more make it a difficult road to travel, thus the issue is, what should you do?

Before starting class 12, attempt to finish the complete class 11th course, as focusing on the class 11th course, whether for physics, chemistry, or mathematics, will be difficult. Make sure that you revise every class 12th concept and practice questions on your own, whilst the topic is being covered in school, personal tuition, or your coaching for JEE. After the board exams, there will be a good 15-20 days or more before the D day, so try to freshen up and focus on class 11th mathematics. The focus these days should be 70:30.

In other words, you should commit the majority of your time (70%) to conceptual clarity of class 11th topics and remaining 30% to maintain your progress in class 12th. This will keep your brain in a good holding pattern and ensure that no stone is left unturned before the D Day to ensure you a seat at IITs.

The post 11th v/s 12th Mathematics first appeared on Trigya.
